My New Tweedz Headphones

I recently had the opportunity to try out some new Tweedz headphones, and I thought that I would take some time to let you know what I think about them.

Tweedz Headphones Review

There are a lot of pros to these awesome earbud headphones… Here are a few:

  • The braided cord is less likely to tangle than regular rubber corded earbuds.
  • They come in a great variety of colors… I, of course, chose red (can you tell that it’s my favorite?)!
  • The earbuds fit well enough in my ear that they didn’t fall out while I was out for a run, and YES, this is important.
  • They have very minimal and eco-friendly packaging.
  • Speaking of packaging, as you can see from the photo above, the headphones did not come twisted up like most do, so they came straight out of the package with no issue.
  • Not that I’ve put them to a beating or anything, but they appear to be extremely durable.
  • The sound quality is actually very good! It’s not all choppy like some lesser quality earbuds that I’ve tried in the past.
  • No worrying about a battery going dead on a long run (I know that’s a given, but it’s important to me).

Things that I would change:

  • I would LOVE it if these earbuds came with an in-line mic. I, like most modern people, listen to music with my phone, and it would be nice to be able to talk on the phone if someone calls and it happens to be in my back pocket.
  • Not much else. Except maybe a good storage solution.

Bottom Line

I will definitely be keeping the Tweedz headphones in my running bag. They will be replacing my bluetooth headphones for most (if not all) of my runs, and I would consider giving them as gifts for all of my running friends. I am also considering getting three extra sets, one for each of the boys, and one for the hubs. The boys go through a LOT of earbuds, so I’m interested to see how they hold up for them.

Have you tried Tweedz Headphones?

If you’ve tried Tweedz headphones, leave me a comment and let me know what you think of them. If you haven’t tried them, check them out here. I promise, you will definitely love them!

It’s been a rough week…

So, I can’t lie to you. It’s been a rough week. Getting back into the work/school routine has been less than fun… And I didn’t play the Power Ball, so I have no chance of having won and not going back. 😉 Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but we came back to school to find that two of my favorite students were transferring to different schools… It took everything in me to not cry at school.

On to something positive…

Training Trigger is going good! I can say that he is almost 100% housebroken, walks super great on the leash, and does perfect in his crate. Plus, he’s such a love bug! He tends to be a bit of a lap baby, but I’m okay with that. 🙂 I was able to get in touch with someone who got a puppy from a previous litter from his breeder (same mom and dad) and they said that their pup who is just over a year old now weighs 110 pounds! I may need to get the lap baby thing in check soon, but I really enjoy all the love…

As you can see, Trigger loves when I come home from work! He laid on me and wouldn't let me up when I got home from work!

My Favorite Amazon Items This Week…

As you can see in the photo above, I have a brand new phone case. It is AMAZING! I have to have a wallet phone case, because I am constantly forgetting my driver’s license and debit card in either my purse or yesterday’s blue jeans, so this one is kinda perfect. What makes it completely perfect is that it has a removable magnetic case for your phone. It also has three separate slots for cash, receipts, and whatever other loose papers that you may have.

We’ve had so much rain these last few weeks that I’ve been desperately needing rain boots (especially when my front yard turned into a pond!). I searched and searched, and finally found these cute and affordable ones! They are available in several different prints, but I got these black ones with white polka dots with the intentions of adding my monogram in red. I’ll have to update the photos when I finally get a few minutes to add the monogram.

Excuses, Excuses…

You know, since I’ve been taking getting healthy seriously, I’ve had other people tell me all about how much they’d like to be able to eat healthier, go running, go to the gym, or whatever they think they would like to do… But here’s the thing, they always have an excuse as to why they can’t.

excuses don't burn caloriesSo here’s the thing… You can make all of the excuses that you want, but excuses don’t burn calories. I’ll give you the list of excuses that I have heard and then I’m going to tell you something that is even more powerful than all of those excuses and what I’m hearing when I hear those excuses.

  • It’s too hot.
  • I’m too tired.
  • I’m hurting.
  • It’s too cold.
  • I can’t do that.
  • I don’t have time.
  • I’m too busy.
  • I don’t want to go alone.

I’m sure I’ve heard a million more, but these are the most popular… Or what springs to mind at the moment. But here’s the thing, what your excuses are really saying to me is that you don’t actually want to get fit. You don’t want to get healthier. There is something that you want more than you want to get healthier. Maybe you just want to be lazy…

A thirty minute workout is only 2% of your day. Are you really that busy? You can’t wake up 30 minutes earlier? You can’t prepare by laying out some sweats and sneakers for a walk or run? If you keep saying you can’t, all I can really think is that you are really good at making excuses…

Remember, excuses don’t burn calories… Work does! So stop making excuses, get off your ass, and work out. Wake up earlier and go for a walk. Go to the grocery store and buy healthier foods. Stop making excuses, just make a step in the right direction.

Get Fit For Free

When you’re like me and you live in a small town, you can’t just drop everything and go to the gym… The closest gym to me is at least 45 minutes away, and gyms are expensive. When I began to realize that a gym wasn’t going to be my solution, I began to turn to exercise videos. They work for some people, but I honestly cannot bring myself to put a dvd in the Playstation every morning. Also, I realized that I got bored with the same routine, and was spending hundreds of dollars on dvds and random pieces of equipment that I was buying online or in a department store. And I wasn’t really using any of it. So, I decided that from now on if I wanted to get fit, I was going to get fit for free.

excuses dont burn calories get fit for free

My birthday this year was a sort of turnaround for me. I realized that some major changes needed to happen, so that’s when I decided to start walking. Yes, walking. While you need good shoes, walking doesn’t require the most expensive shoes, and you probably, most likely, already have a good pair of shoes in your wardrobe anyhow, so it is definitely a way to get fit for free. Now, there are MILLIONS of articles out about how walking is good for you, but there is one in particular that I LOVE that will tell you how to get the most effective calorie burn while walking… Find it here.

If you’ve been around for a while, you already know that I love 30 day fitness challenges… The key to it though is to pick one or two and to really stick with them. I always start mine on the first of the month, that way I never get confused about what day I am on. I love the website that I linked because:

  1. You can get fit for free
  2. They have handy printouts
  3. They’ve already done the homework for you
  4. They include rest days
  5. Other people have reviewed these challenges, so you know if they’re worth your time.

There are literally hundreds of ways to get fit for free, and I promise you, we’re going to start discussing them here. My favorite is running, as you can imagine, but I am also looking now at some upper body exercises as well, so stay tuned as I start going over those with you.

Also, I cannot stress enough, document your fitness. I have started keeping a fat loss journal, that I write down what I eat daily, as well as how I’ve exercised, and twice a month I measure so that I can SEE the difference in my body instead of getting frustrated with a number on a scale.

The greatest thing to do when you’re trying to get fit for free is to find a workout buddy or an accountability partner that will help keep you on track. I have a friend that I walk with in the mornings, and if it weren’t for her, sometimes I’d be lazy and stay in bed. I also have a friend, my marathon buddy, who messages me several times a day to check in and see how many steps I’ve taken, how many miles I’ve ran, and sometimes what I’m eating… We keep each other on track, which is really important.

Talk to you all soon… And I hope you will all join me on a journey to get fit for free!
