Girls Night In

Host-a-Girls-Night-In

Part of what I promised myself that I would start making time for this year was the amazing women in my life. We all work extremely hard, most of us are moms, and we all need a break sometimes. If you’re not one of these women in my life, I’m sure that you have several women that are like this in your life and that they would appreciate this as well. Keep reading for tips on a great girls night in!

Now, here’s the tricky part: I’m not at the point that I thought I would be at in my life by now, and I can’t take them all out for a night on the town, and I can’t go to the bar and get free drinks for us all anymore. Well, I could, but I probably wouldn’t have a boyfriend anymore, and that’s just not worth the risk. So, with not going out, that leaves us to the more logical choice of having a fun packed girls’ night in. And honestly, if your pack of ladies is anything like mine, your night in can be just as wild and fun as any night out would ever be!

The essentials for a fun night in are good food, even better drinks, and something fun to do… So that’s what we’re going to figure out how to do… And how to do it eco-friendly and on a budget! 😉

potato soup with bacon and asparagusWe’ll start with food… Since it’s cold right now, I want to try a soup, and I’m going to take three things that I LOVE (potatoes, bacon, and asparagus!) and combine them. That’s right, we’re having potato soup with bacon and asparagus for supper. I found the recipe on AllRecipes.com, so feel free to try it! The recipe as is makes about six servings, which means that unless we get greedy, we should be fine. For dessert, I’ll be making my triple chocolate brownies (something definitely not recommended for anybody diabetic.

Now, of course, like any proud southerner, there is never a shortage of sweet tea in my home, but tonight I will be offering more than that. We have hot chocolate, coffee, and a wonderful wine on the menu for drinks. I prefer a white zinfandel, but there are many options available that are also organic! Take a look and see if you can find an organic wine that suits your taste buds, I’d be willing to bet that you can!

When all the eating is done, something that we’ve all been dying to do is homemade facials! I was lucky enough to find some recipes for different ones that we will be trying, including an alpha-hydroxy acid mask made from lemon, apple, and grape juices and cane sugar! If you would like recipes for the facials, comment below and I will email them to you.

Last but not least, even though I’m sure that you have tons and tons to talk about, catch a movie on Amazon Prime! If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure to try the 30 day trial. You can cancel it anytime if you want to, but to be honest, it’s so awesome that you’re going to want to keep it!

I hope you all have a wonderful girls’ night in! I’ll see you later!
