Why I’m Bringing My Blog Back (And Why You Should Stick Around for It)

Once upon a time, I had a blog. Then life said, ‘LOL, no you don’t.’ It’s been a minute—or, okay, a year—but this chaotic mess is back on the blog, baby.

The Backstory: What Happened to the Old Blog

I wish I could tell you what happened for me to stop blogging in the past. I always loved it, it was a great creative outlet and I met some awesome people online because of it. It also helped me keep in touch with people all over the country that I otherwise wouldn’t get to update on life events. I think the problem lies in the fact that I got too busy. I stopped taking time to do things I loved because I had work, school, kids… things that mattered more than me.

Ooooph. That’s rough to say. But isn’t it true of most of us? Don’t we usually make everything else more important than ourselves? Please say I’m not the only one.

Why Now: What’s Changed and What’s Calling Me Back

I have always had a creative itch I can’t ignore. It has driven me to do things my entire life. It drove me to writing, to drawing, to making t-shirts. It drove me to the classroom, especially when I realized that sometimes there was just a better way things could be done.

Now that I have finished my bachelor’s degree, had some time in the classroom to really get a grip on what I’m doing, and finished GaTAPP, I’m finding myself writing more. It started with journaling. Then letters. I think I’m driving those closest to me a little crazy, so a part of me started thinking that maybe I should stop, but then I remembered my blog. The way it felt to write and connect with people around the country, and sometimes the world.

I won’t lie, even though I make more money now as a teacher than I did as a paraprofessional, I could also use the extra income (who couldn’t?)… So part of getting back on the blog is to support my family, mostly by recommending products that I buy on Amazon that I could not live without, and that I think other people (hopefully you!) would find useful as well.

But why now? Real talk: Because I miss it. Because it’s mine. Because I freaking want to.

What to Expect From the Blog Now:

I wish I could tell you for certain what to expect. This is what I’m thinking I’ll post about though, just based on my life at the moment:

  • Teaching chaos & classroom gold
  • Yearbook behind-the-scenes
  • Robotics shenanigans
  • Mom life with teens, a 2nd grader, and all the ADHD vibes
  • Product finds and Amazon wins
  • Personal projects, growth, and the occasional rant

My goal is to post twice a week. I’ve made myself a nice little calendar with a schedule, put it in my planner AND synced it to my Google calendar, so hopefully that means that I’ll get on here at least once a week again.

Why It Matters (To Me and Maybe to You)

My hope is that by renewing this blog I will be reconnecting with my sense of identity. More than anything, I want to create something lasting, funny, helpful, and real.

I’m hoping that this little home of mine on the internet is inviting to others (teachers, moms, creators, chaos coordinators) and that we can all feel the freedom to laugh, cry, and high-five through the screen.
